An Eco Friendly Laundry

Being An Eco Friendly Laundry

Reducing our carbon footprint IS our business

As a laundry and cleaning service, we have to constantly come up with creative ways to reduce our carbon footprint and find serious Eco alternatives for the usual products and services widely used in the industry.

Wet Cleaning

Our first step to a greener way of doing business was in 2014, when we opened our laundry in Chichester. We decided to invest in a “Wet Cleaning” system- an Eco friendly alternative to a dry cleaning machine. The system is completely water based so avoids using strong chemicals traditionally used in dry cleaning such as percoethylene.

When refraining from using strong chemicals, it can be assumed that this compromises on the quality of the wash. With wet cleaning this is not true, and biodegradable detergents provide an excellent clean that is not harmful to the environment.

Chemicals and solvents commonly used in the dry cleaning process can be harmful to both the operator and the customer, so the Eco friendly wash process of wet cleaning ensures there is no air pollution or health risks.
The wet cleaning process uses 30% less water than a traditional wash cycle and can still provide fantastic results at as little as 20c (degrees). This means that the process can reduce energy consumption by 50%.

Our next step to being more environmentally conscious, is to reduce our plastic usage. By the end of 2018, we will not be providing customers with plastic wrapping for their items. Instead, we will be offering a discount for customers who bring a reusable suit bag for their hanging items or for their ironing. Suit bags and laundry bags are available to buy in our reception area.

Cleaning Products

We are always looking for ways that we can be more Eco-conscious as a business and have partnered with “Fill”- a company that makes Eco-friendly cleaning products, here in the UK, with refillable glass or plastic bottles. This is a big step for our customers who can now purchase and refill their cleaning and laundry products at our Chichester premises on St James Works.

For more information on any of the above services, please give us a call on 01243 543877.
